A unique initiative by RCP Gandhi Bhavan on Water pollution and water conservation project by using the audio-visual medium. Water is one of the crucial and important factors for all the creatures living on this planet and to sustain life on the earth. Understanding this problem and being keen on social issues, Rotary club of Gandhibhavn, Pune has taken an important step towards this issue and initiated a project / programme called ‘water pollution and water conservation’ to create awareness amongst school children about the present scenario. For the same, 3 students of M.Sc Biodiversity have made 3 short films / Documentaries related to this issue for RCPGB. Film mainly talks about what a school going child does and how he can bring changes in his day to day life if he decides to save and conserve water. Rtn. Mrs. Sumedha Bhosale, Environment director for Rotary, was chief guest and guided students about water pollution and conservation with very simple language and has given pledge to children about water conservation. Mrs. Shalaka Shahane, Vice-principle of MIT Marathi medium school guided children. Rtn. Mrs. Ashatai Rashinkar and Rtn. Mrs. Pratima Lakhe also shared their views about the issue. Rtn. Mrs. Swati Deshpande did compeering for this programme. All the students were facilitated by giving certificates and oath for water conservation at the end of programme. The oath or the pledge, penned by Rtn. Vivek Godse is another unique feature of this acitivity as it has a more binding effect on the participant. Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan is planning to do 10 more such programs in schools to spread awareness on protecting our river and also conserve .
